Sick, Tired and Painful

Sorry, I haven’t posted much the past couple of days, but I haven’t been feeling too well. Wednesday I started having extremely painful back spasms. It got to the point I couldn’t sit nor stand. I ended up hunched over the couch when I got home. I actually took two Vicodin to ease the pain. I’ve been trying not to use them even though they were prescribed to me specifically for pain.

Then that night, I woke up about 2330 (11:30 pm) with stomach cramping. I guess the front side of my body was feeling left out and wanted to catch up. That caused my bowels to get jealous and next thing I know I’m in the bathroom all night. Lucky for me, I already had an appointment with my doctor for a checkup on my back Thursday anyway.

When I got to the doctor, I told him that I hadn’t been taking my meds because I didn’t want to get addicted to narcotics (vicodin) and was worried about the Celebrex because of all the news coverage. Yet again, the MSM has managed to scare me (and probably others) needlessly with this drug. What you don’t hear about is that celebrex was only bad for people with certain kinds of heart problems or other problems and that as a healthy soldier I was okay. To ease my concern over Vicodin he prescribed me more. I can’t get rid of that stuff. Anyway, he told me to lower my dosage from two pills to one and to augment that with an extra strength Tylenol. I also take an 81mg chewable Tylenol around midday. The Vicodin is strickly to help me sleep since the pain makes it difficult to be in one position for too long. So, I only take that at night.

On another note, I found out about something BEFORE it got big for once. I’m a huge user of Paypal. There’s nothing wrong with it, but there aren’t a lot of choices out there that are any better. There’s a new company coming up called Greenzap that is set to begin competing with Paypal come this summer. You can use it on Ebay and other sites. However, they are accepting preregistration. For preregistering, you will get $25 automatically in your account. You don’t need a credit card or bank information to sign up. Plus, anyone else you get to sign up gets you another $5 in there. So, naturally I’d like to extend the offer to my readers. Just click here or go to to preregister. Enter the promo code “chcknhawk” and you’re off. It only takes about a minute, if that. You’ll be $25 ahead of the game. If you don’t use these types of sites, sign up anyway so I can get the $5 (Insert great big toothy grin here).

Anyway, I’m starting to feel a little better. I’m still doing the journal thing, but my next entry is a few days off. I’m still working on the code for the new site (to be located at and it’s looking good, at least from where I sit. Once it’s up and running, I’ll let you know. I’m off until Monday as comp for having to work the past three weeks almost nonstop.

  1. I was also given a cortizone shot in the back while I was there. I neglected to mention that. I think he’s going to try and make that a regular occurrence. But, I agree. I am not comfortable taking a narcotic on a regular basis for an extended period of time. While I was in high school, I was an alcoholic and I now work very hard to stay away from addictive substances (except Dr. Pepper, Big Red and Taco Bell).

  2. I maybe nuts but it seems to me a muscle relaxer would be better than a narcotic(Vicodin)

You might consider asking your doctor about that.

  3. CJ…I feel for you on the back pain thing. I, myself, have suffered from back pain for the last 6 years and I wouldn’t wish that pain on anyone but my worst enemies. I hope you feel better soon!!

  4. CJ,

I have never suffered from any back pain but my husband was in a real bad gasoline truck accident 3 years ago. He flipped the truck over on black ice and was thrown out of the roof of the truck. He has suffered from severe back and neck pain. He was on comp so he had more pain killers, muscle relaxers then I have ever seen in my life. I can feel for you just by seeing what kind of pain my husband has been in.

    Feel better…

  5. Your in my prayers CJ. I hope thatyour health is improving every day. Keep the Faith!

  6. I hope you are feeling better CJ!!
